About Cadiz

The beach of Cadiz is divided into three parts: Playa La Caleta, La Victoria-Cortadura and La Playa Santa Maria del Mar.
The most popular is La Caleta which is found in the ancient center of the city, close to the neighborhood of La Viña, and contains all tourist services as well as offering every aquatic sport. This is where most bathers tend to gather.
The restaurants are clustered around the seaside promenade of La Victoria, which is on the whole still a virgin beach, one of the least spoiled of the coast. The steepest and rockiest part is La Cortadura, while La Victoria is closer to the city and holds the Blue Flag of the EU, and is the preferred beach of the residents of Cádiz.
Santa María del Mar – actually more a cove than a beach – abuts La Victoria and offers the best surfing.
If you visit Cádiz in the winter, activity is focused in the ancient city center, but in summer, all the fun transfers to the promenade and the “chiringuitos” (food and beverage stands) erected there during the summer season. “El Malecón” in La Punta has the best known salsa clubs, and although the music found in the discos of the region is Spanish, the few exceptions to this rule are also found in La Punta San Felipe.
Cádiz, an inimitable location in the Costa de la Luz, is one of the oldest cities in Europe - some call it “Little Havana” for its peculiar appearance, combining as it does island charm with historical sites. The ancient center of Cádiz can be covered on foot in an hour. And other options nearby include wandering through the wide streets that lead down to the sea observing the Arabesque architecture, visiting places like the Genovés Park, the tree-lined avenue of la Alameda, or enjoying the views of Bahía.
